Background

Built in 1914, the Lisburn city centre campus of SERC has a well established role in the local community and provides a range of innovative and career focused programmes of study to over 6000 learners and 300 client companies.  The campus has secured its future growth with the announcement of a £20 million development due to complete in 2009.

Facilities/Resources within the Centre 

The Lisburn campus is the only FE provider of Refrigeration training in Northern Ireland, is one of only two providers of Construction Plant training and is a Ground Source Heat Pump Installer Academy.  It offers a range of full and part time accredited courses in areas including Business, Civil Engineering, Construction, Health and Social Care, IT, Professional Development and Tourism. 

Full time courses are all supported with additional workplace skills study including English, Maths, Problem Solving, Teamwork and a Careers Education Programme to help students develop their employability.  In areas such as Hairdressing, Beauty, Joinery, Plumbing, Refrigeration and Motor Vehicle the campus has facilities offering students the chance to practice their skills in ‘real life’ work situations as well as having the opportunity to go on work placements and interact with local business people at specially organised events. 

A range of support services are accessible by full and part time students including careers advice, financial assistance, learning help and counselling.

Courses offered at the Lisburn Campus

Qualifications including BTEC First and National Diplomas, NVQs, A Levels, Higher National Diplomas, Foundation Degrees and industry specific accredited courses are available at the Lisburn campus.
