Over the years the colleges that have merged to become South Eastern Regional College (ie East Down, Lisburn and North Down & Ards Institutes) have provided thousands of adults of all ages with a second chance for education through a range of scheduled adult education courses delivered in community-based out-centres and tailored education and training programmes delivered at local community venues.  Many learners have achieved qualifications, which they previously thought were beyond their reach.

The new college is continuing and extending Community Education to offer:

Individuals - the chance to learn and increase your skills at a place near to your home.

Return to learning within your own community by looking through our courses.  Getting involved in a community-based course could help you:

  • enhance your computer skills,
  • learn how to help your children with their homework, or
  • increase your career prospects

Those involved in community or voluntary groups – the opportunity to organise learning programmes designed to meet the needs of your community.

We can arrange tailored training programmes; delivered at a time and place to suit the learners of your community.  We have also developed, and will continue to develop, strategic partnerships with community groups, voluntary and statutory agencies.  Several of these are reflected in the projects that we currently have to promote Community Education.
