Payment

SERC facilitates the payment of all course fees at enrolment. This will mean that, whenever possible, students will not be inconvenienced at a later stage for additional costs relating to examination, registration, assessment or certification.

Fees are set against the appropriate course title in the part-time course prospectus. Cheques should be made out to South Eastern Regional College or SERC and crossed “A/C Payee”. SERC accepts Maestro and most credit/debit cards.

Question

Answer

How do I pay?*

You can pay by cash, cheque and credit or debit card.

Can my employer pay for me?

Bring a signed letter from your employer when you are enrolling. Note that
concessions are not applicable in this case, apart from the Early Bird 10% discount.

Can I pay by instalments?

Yes, if your course is over £150 you can make a 25% deposit on enrolment followed
by two instalments - one in November 2009 and one in January 2010.
These instalments can be made by direct debit or by cheque.

Will there be any additional costs?

Fees are published beside each course and include all costs unless otherwise stated.
Please note that in the cases of 2 year courses there will be a fee payable for
year 2 of the course.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are only payable when a class does not run or is over subscribed.

* Payment must be in £ Sterling. Please note we cannot accept Euro.

Policy on Cancellation of Classes

SERC will endeavor to run all classes advertised. However, we reserve the right to cancel classes which do not enrol sufficient numbers to make the class viable. We shall contact you if your class is cancelled and, where possible, make arrangements for you to attend an alternative class or offer you a refund.

FAQs/Key Selling Points for Customer queries

Why over 60’s get a discount?

As many over 60 year olds chose to work beyond the retirement age it is important that training is accessible.  With reference to Age Discrimination the College uses ‘Objective Justification’ in this situation to argue that we can offer a discount based on age alone.

Research has shown that over 50% of those who availed of this concession in September 2008 have used the course in relation to their work.  For this reason the discount applies to vocational courses only.
