STUDY AT SERC

South Eastern Regional College (SERC) is one of the largest public funded further and higher education Colleges in the United Kingdom with over 1,200 staff and 30,000 enrolments.

 

The College offers a broad range of internationally recognized qualifications for example University Degrees, Foundation Degrees, Higher National Diplomas (HND), A Levels, English Courses, Professional Qualifications and Vocational courses. These courses offer progression routes too many degree programmes at UK universities or to employment.

A high standard of teaching is provided from well-qualified, committed staff through small class sizes for a more supportive environment. More than 20% of the students on our degree programme achieved a first class honours degree in 2008-09. The majority of the remaining students achieved a 2:1 honours degree.

COURSES AND ADMISSIONS

SERC offers a wide range of courses in various disciplines with the majority of them commencing in September each year.

 

International Fee:
Course at NVQ Level 3 = £3,900 Pounds sterling per year
Courses at NVQ Level 4 and above (including Degrees) = £5,000 Pounds sterling per year

 

1. BA Honours Degree - Business Management (3 years Full Time)

 

2. Foundation Degrees (2 years Full Time)

 

  • Foundation Degree in Applied Creative Arts (Offered in conjunction with the University of Ulster)
  • Foundation Degree in Creative Multimedia (Offered in conjunction with the Queen’s University, Belfast)
  • Foundation Degree in Hospitality, Tourism and Events (Offered in conjunction with the University of Ulster)

 

3. Higher National Diplomas (HND)

Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) are valuable nationally recognized higher-level qualifications, which can lead to employment or a university degree.

VISA/IMMIGRATION

Student Immigration and visa Information under the new immigration system, students are under Tier 4 of the Point Based System.

 

Tier 4
This category includes two sub-categories:

 

  1. General Student – for those who are coming to the United Kingdom for the post-16 education;
  2. Child Student – for children between 4 and 17 years old coming to the UK for their education to study at independent schools.

 

As a Tier 4 (General) student, you must have 40 points. You can score:

 

  • 30 points for having a valid Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), which you get for studying a course at an acceptable level with an approved education provider (also known as a 'Tier 4 sponsor'), and for having acceptable English language skills;
  • 10 points for having enough money (also known as maintenance or funds) to cover your course fees and living costs.

INTERNATIONAL OFFICE

The college has an International Office, from where you can get advice about preparing to come to the UK to study, including advice on visa issues where relevant, finding accommodation, opening a bank account and other issues related to helping you settle into a new country.

 

The college is registered as a sponsor with the UKBA.

International Student Profile 

Adrianne is an international student, originating from South Africa, currently studying a BA Business Management degree at the Bangor Campus. After college Adrianne said 'I would like to enter into a graduate management programme, and raise the capital to start my own business'


'I plan to take up an internship over the summer at an MNC, and complete me degree in 2011. There after I would like to enter into a graduate management programme, and raise the capital to start my own business. During my time as the Governor of SERC SU, I would like to present a unified voice of the student to senior management, in order for them to understand the issues that face students today, particularly in a recession.'

Application Process For South Eastern Regional College:

 

  • Complete Application Form (must be accompanied by Certificate of qualifications along with English translation; academic record; recommendation letters from 2 references and 2 passport sized pictures)  
  • Letter of Offer sent to you based on above information
  • Acceptance letter sent along with accommodation request form will be sent to you
  • You organise visa and inform us along with fees payments and completed accommodation request form. You can visit the British Council website to find out more.
  • Information pack is sent to you and someone will be in contact with you to arrange accommodation
  • Enrolment at college
