A group of budding entrepreneurs from South Eastern Regional College recently took part in a craft fair held at Downpatrick Racecourse.
The event was a fundraiser in aid of the Down Residential Project. The students, who study Art at the College used this event as an opportunity to show case their creations ‘Impressions of Ireland’, it was also an opportunity to test the market and identify if there was a potential niche in the market for their unique designs. The students were supported on this venture by SERC Art lecturer Alice McDaniel who has prior experience of selling Irish design having been a guest at the 2009 Milwaukee Irish Fest.
The fair proved to be very successful for the students as they secured several sales and genuine interest in their product. This entrepreneurial group is made up of Downpatrick locals, Herbie McCann, George Carling, Austyn Finnegan and Gemma Rice.
