A class of hardworking students who studied GCSE Italian on a part time basis at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) Bangor Campus, had reason to be cheerful as they all achieved an A* - B grade.
Of the fifteen students who sat the GCSE Italian exam, ten students achieved an A*, three achieved an A and two achieved grade B.
College Principal and Chief Executive Ken Webb said: “I would like to congratulate all the students on their remarkable achievement. Their success demonstrates the excellent work that goes on within the College.
“Such performance continues to enhance our reputation throughout the community and emphasises the high quality of teaching and learning within SERC.”
Tessa Barrett, Assistant Head of School for Access to Education explains: “The students have worked very hard throughout the year and showed great drive and determination to complete the course.
"The results reflect on the commitment of the students, many of whom successfully juggled their part time study with family life and careers, and it gives us all great pleasure to share in the delight of that success. The students worked beyond the minimum requirements and thankfully their hard work has paid off.”
Tessa goes on to explain why this was such a tremendous achievement for the class:
“The majority of the students on the course hadn't sat exams for a very long time; so it was a real educational and learning challenge for them to overcome. As well as this, one student was unable to attend many of the classes due to illness. However with help and support from SERC, dedication and hard work, the student was only two marks away from achieving full marks in all papers.”
