A full class of eleven Executive Secretary Diploma students at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) Lisburn Campus, had reason to be cheerful this week as they all passed their year one module in English for Business with distinction.
The amazing achievement is the first time a whole class of students has achieved the top grade for their course and now they are all looking to progress to further study.
On the achievements, James Currie Head of Business, Finance and Management at SERC commented; “I would like to congratulate all the students on their remarkable achievement. Their success demonstrates the excellent work that goes on within Business, Finance and Management at South Eastern Regional College, and helps build on our reputation for providing excellent vocational training.”
SERC offers a range of business courses all with a high success rate. This is something that student Julia Lyttle, agrees with entirely.
Julia said: “I decided to study the Executive Secretary Diploma on a part time basis with the aim of securing a recognised qualification. The course covered a wide variety of business administration topics and subjects and the tutors were very helpful. The ability to ask advice from other students on the course was also a great help and I was even able to offer support to others.
“At the beginning I wasn’t sure if part time study would suit me. However I managed to fit it in with my job and family life. The support from SERC has been great and I am thankful for the opportunity to enhance my business skills and knowledge which I can now put into practice.
"Our tutor Marie McClelland has been fantastic, always offering us advice and supporting us through our studies. We've all enjoyed the course and learned a lot from Marie and the other tutors on the course."
Course lecturer Marie McClelland explains: “Distinction recognizes excellence in a particular academic undertaking. My congratulations go to all the students on achieving such a high standard. The students have worked very hard throughout the year and showed great drive and determination to complete the course."
“We are here to support them and provide resources, but they are ultimately responsible for their achievements. The students worked beyond the minimum requirements and thankfully their hard work has paid off.”
