 Educating in Enterprise

Students at South Eastern Regional College’s Bangor Campus recently welcomed Darren Nixon, Training Officer for Young Enterprise Northern Ireland who delivered an Enterprise in Action one day programme.  Enterprise in Action events are designed to help young people to develop their enterprise capability through increasing knowledge, enhancing skills and fostering entrepreneurial attitudes.

The programme provided students studying on National Diploma and Higher National Diploma courses with an insight to different aspects of enterprise and the employability agenda, preparing them for their eventual progression into the working environment.  It highlighted to students the importance of being well educated, motivated and enterprising and how that will enhance their own employment prospects and competitiveness whilst also contributing towards the prosperity of the Northern Ireland economy.

Through Enterprise in Action students actively engage with the challenge of making a prototype product. At each stage of the process the students' understanding of key business economic and enterprise concepts is also developed through practical activities and the use of ICT.
