South Eastern Regional College (SERC) experienced a disappointing start to their season when they suffered an eleven point defeat at the hands of current All Ireland champion’s St Malachy’s, Castlewellan. SERC manager Kieran Gilmore wasn’t too despondent about the defeat; “This was our first match of the year so I can’t be too critical of how we played.
We put up a good first half performance and started well in the second half scoring two early goals, but St Malachy’s showed why they are All Ireland champions by tagging on three goals and four points.”
