Safety First for College Apprentices
Safety in the workplace is paramount to businesses that recognise that poor health and safety leads to illness and accidents and significant costs for your business. Responsibility of ensuring a safe working environment is shared by both employer and employee. It is with this in mind that South Eastern Regional College enhanced their health and safety induction process for apprentices by implementing the innovative “SpeechBubble Health and Safety” induction programme.
SpeechBubble is a software platform designed in such a way to help facilitate communication using a combination of written text and illustrations to overcome the challenge of communicating important messages to all audiences.
Jimmy O’Neill, Sales Director for SpeechBubble had this to say; “When it comes to the important message of health and safety it is vital that it is communicated effectively. The SpeechBubble concept reinforces verbal and written presentations with images and illustrations to enhance the over all understanding of health and safety induction.
SERC deserves to be commended for their forward thinking as the first College in the United Kingdom and the whole of Ireland to implement this innovative programme. It is testament of the emphasis the College places on the health and wellbeing of their students.”
The Health and Safety department at SERC continually strives to ensure that new technology is utilised to deliver health and safety messages in a fun, innovative and professional manner. John Gault, Head of Health and Safety for the College had this to say; “I personally, am very proud of the fact that SERC is the first College throughout the UK and Ireland to use this excellent training programme. The Health and Safety Department within the college will continue to strive to set high standards in its pursuit of excellence in new entrant induction training.”
