SERC has become the first UK Further Education college to join the internationally recgonised CDIO Initiative. It will be in good company as it joins an elite group of leading engineering schools across the world to develop a new vision for education.
We know it can be difficult trying to entertain your kids for the whole summer. That’s why we have created SERC Kids: The Alternative Summer Camp.
With 1.2 million short breaks taken by Northern Ireland residents last year in NI, SERC is helping the sector to maximise on this home grown appetite by offering a range of training packages to enhance the skills of staff within the industry.
A group of money-savvy students from SERC are celebrating after they triumphed at the Halifax’s Money for Life Challenge UK Grand Final in London recently.
This week SERC hosted the ‘Third International Symposium on Expertise in Sustainable Society’, in partnership with Toyama National College of Technology.

Facilities at SERC International College of English include
 
 
  Sony Virtuoso - a mulitmedia language learning software programme that will allow you to work with audio and video material, use interactive exercises and websites and link together themed resources into text, audio, video and gap-fill exercises. 
 
  A learning resource centre / library with reference books and materials that you can borrow.
 
  Computers that you can use to access the internet to research, send emails or view CD's and DVD's.
  Free wireless internet access. 
 

Courses

English courses are delivered in the morning with the opportunity for additional one to one sessions in the afternoon or you can take part in cultural, educational or fun activities. The decision is yours! The courses are aimed at helping you to learn to communicate freely in English, with emphasis on fluency and accuracy.

 

A range of courses are available, delivered over 20 hours per week, for adults 18 year old and upwards, designed to meet your needs.

 

 
Beginners' Course (General)
These courses are suitable if you have little or no previous knowledge of English.
 
Intermediate Course
These courses are suitable for those who understand the language but have limited reading and speaking ability.
 
Advanced Courses
These courses are suitable for advanced level learners who wish to improve their language competence.
 
Intensive Courses
These courses are suitable for those who want to learn English as quickly as possible for academic or professional reasons.
 
One to One Sessions
One-to-One tuition is the ultimate course for making maximum progress during a short period of time.
 
Assessment
On the first day of your course, we will organise a written placement test and an oral interview to make sure that we place you in the best class for your level.
 
Certificate
At the end of your course you will be given a SERC Certificate and a Student Report filled out and signed by your teacher.

Fun Activities

Studying at SERC can be fun!  Choose from a range of exciting activities including.

 

  Kite Surfing

  City centre treasure hunt
  Residential/overnight stays at Mourne Mountains and Sperrins which include activities 
    such as mountain biking
  Visits to NI’s most memorable tourist destinations like the Giant’s Causeway, 
    Saint Patrick Centre and Somme Heritage Centre
  Sightseeing tour of Belfast including the Titanic Quarter and Dublin including 
    the Guinness factory.

You will need to pre-book and pay your activities 10 days prior to your arrival. Prices range from £30 to £100 per person.  

There are also courses available in cookery, jewellery making, photography and painting. 
 

Enrolment and Payment 

To enrol and pay by post please send a completed enrolment form to SERC, together with the full fees for your course. Please note the enrolment fee is non-refundable.

 
Fees are in Pounds Sterling. You must pay all bank charges.
