HND Care Practice Graduate Emma Kelly (pictured on the right) who picked up The Scrabo Cup at this year’s 2005 Graduation Ceremony has just returned from Romania where she was helping orphans and gypsy children as part of the Child Evangelism Fellowship, an international children’s charity.
The the South Eastern Regional College student spent the summer helping out in children’s camps where she taught English and also helped with preparing passages for translation. Emma is keen to return to the country soon, hopefully with more volunteers to continue the work she started.
The student said although some aspects were upsetting she found that she was well prepared for the experience, ‘The tutors at the South Eastern Regional College were really supportive and they are realistic about the industry which really helped me when I was in Romania.’
