Last year the range of Apprenticeship Programmes at the Lisburn Campus was extended to including Plastering for the first time. Gary is amongst the first cohort of students to undertake the Plastering apprenticeship and has achieved great success so far. Having been named Plastering Trainee of the Year and Overall Apprentice of the Year at the College Further Education Awards, he was also nominated for the DEL Apprentice of the Year Award.
Gary is currently studying NVQ Level 2 Plastering and is also in full-time employment with James Cairns of Dromore. Gary had this to say about his recent successes; ‘I’ve always wanted to be a Plasterer and when I found out that it was being offered by South Eastern Regional College I saw it as an ideal opportunity to pursue my goal. I have developed a great relationship with my course tutor Roger McKee and thoroughly enjoy working with James Cairns. It’s great to be recognised with these recent awards but I am just doing something I really enjoy.’
