"I have always had a great interest in computers and very much wanted to learn more about what they were fully capable of, but having completed my A-Levels, and taken a year out from education to work full-time I thought that it was too late to start thinking about pursuing a course that would allow me to learn about such things. 

The HND Computing course at the Bangor campus of the South Eastern Regional College however provided me with the opportunity to move into this field, having had no previous academic experience with computers.

Over the two years that the course lasts, I was given technical skills and training in many areas such as Visual Programming, Networking, Web Design and Systems Analysis, to name but a few.  The topics that the college cover relate closely to the needs of industry both now and in the future, and tutors themselves give a depth of knowledge to the course as they have come from a wide range of backgrounds in the I.T. sector.

As well as the training in computing that I received, I feel that the overall experience of the Bangor campus of the South Eastern Regional College has allowed me to develop further as an individual, and granted me the opportunity to build new friendships, ones that go beyond the classroom and beyond the course itself.

Upon graduation from the HND, I’m now hoping to study for a degree in Computer Science at Queens University in Belfast, starting in year 2 thanks to quality of the teaching given in this HND.

I would highly recommend this course to anybody who wishes to explore the real capabilities of a computer as well as realising the capabilities they have themselves."
