Scott Waring has just returned home from a year long trip to the States where he studied at Texas Wesleyan University, Dallas, Fortworth, USA, as part of the Business Education Initiative. Whilst he was there, he undertook a range of subject areas including Advertising, Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Introduction to Psychology, Film Aesthetics and more.
Scott loved experiencing the different cultures and different people. He found that there was a lot more opportunity in America in many areas such as education, socialising and leisure. Scott, like his classmate Adam, also met a young American belle and is pursuing a long term relationship with a few trips to America thrown in of course.
Aside from studying, Scott took up playing for the College table tennis team, and thoroughly enjoyed playing for them, he felt that this enabled him to make friends more easily and enhanced his social life greatly.
Scott is a self confessed computer geek, and while he was in America he was able to put this attribute to use. He discovered that online gaming was not as popular as it is over here; he decided to educate his American classmates on the ins and outs of the gaming world. This opened up yet another social scene for Scott.
As if all of this wasn’t enough, Scott joined as a Big Brother through a programme at the College; this involved helping out at events, cleaning up the Campus, making up gift bags for local hospitals and working with the homeless.
Scott says, “I spent the year meeting new people and immersing myself in different culture. This has changed who I am and how I think about things.”
