John lectured part-time in woodwork at the College from 1972. John was Ulster Chairman of the Titanic Society and has vivid memories of the launch. “I was just 5 years old when I first stood on the Belfast shoreline, staring in wonder as the mighty Titanic glided regally down the loch”. His father worked on the Titanic. John was a great character who made a major contribution to Craft teaching, the Boys Brigade and junior soccer in the province. He was ‘advised’ to retire from part-time reaching in his 80’s as the Education Board could not provide him with insurance cover.
