Wayne Edwards, a part-time student at South Eastern Regional College achieved a First Class Honours degree in the Business Studies.
The degree pathway is designed and accredited by John Moores University who set and mark all examinations and assignments, but the course is delivered locally by the College.
Wayne started his studies at the College four years ago with an HNC in Business when he realised he needed to get a recognised qualification in order to change his career from his background in logistics. Having completed the HNC Wayne progressed with another three years part-time study to complete the degree.
Speaking about his success Wayne said: “I am really delighted with this result – having this qualification has really transformed my life and job prospects for the future. I have really enjoyed studying at the College, the small class sizes and support from classmates and tutors has been fantastic and the cost is affordable.
“I would really encourage anyone thinking about a career change to consider this pathway. I hadn’t studied since leaving school in the 1980’s when I wasn’t particularly focused on education, so the HNC was a great introduction to planning and preparing for assignments. These qualifications have opened doors into employment that I never thought possible.
Wayne's achievements were recognised at the College's Graduation Ceremony when he was awarded the Ernst and Young Cup for best Business, Finance and Management student 2009.
