When I was growing up in the 50s there was no encouragement for girls to further their education, therefore I left school at 14 years of age.
I am now a pensioner and when my grandchildren reached school age I discovered just how inadequate I was when it came to helping with homework. So when the opportunity arose to take part in courses to brush up on my skills at the Lisburn Campus I didn’t hesitate.
I have now completed two courses, the Essential Skills Literacy with ICT and Numeracy. I have really enjoyed my return to learning, meeting the tutors and making new friends. My future plans are to continue learning and keep up to date with the younger generation as long as I am able and to keep my mind as active and as sharp as I can.
