SERC Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services students took part in the Moy Park Belfast City Marathon Team Relay on Sunday 4 May and completed with a respectable time of 3 hours 56 minutes.

Their efforts raised an amazing £916 (with gift aid) for Cancer Focus NI. The charity was chosen by the team, as some of them had previously volunteered with them at different events throughout the duration of their course.

The relay team consisted of five runners and two substitutes, whilst other students from the course volunteered on the day with official Belfast City Marathon charity partner, Air Ambulance NI, providing advice, guidance, direction and support to members of the public.

Irwin Pryce, Lecturer in Public Services at SERC said, “I am very proud of the students – runners, substitutes and volunteers - who represented SERC at Northern Ireland's biggest sporting event, whilst putting other people first.   I am delighted to say there were no injuries, and all participants enjoyed the day even if it was a little challenging.”

There is still time to donate for the team's efforts at: Just Giving - Team SERC Uniformed Protective Services.  All donations greatly appreciated.
