Course Overview
You will attend college for 2-3 days if you have a placement. If you cannot obtain a placement you will be required to attend college 5 days per week. The course duration is two years in total.
 

Qualification Title: Level 2 City & Guilds Diploma Site Carpentry

 

Site Carpentry is a skilled trade and a craft in which primary work performed is the cutting, shaping and installation of building materials during the construction process. Site Carpentry is work primarily based on Construction sites, meaning that you will be working with other trades people as part of a team.

 

You will learn a wide range of skills needed to be successful in the career of site carpentry. We have highly trained staff and up to date workshop facilities.

Mandatory Modules may include:

  • Safe working practices
  • Information, quantities and communicating
  • Building Methods and Construction Technology

Site Joinery subjects may include:

  • First fixing
  • Second fixing
  • Erect structural carcassing
  • Maintenance
  • Set up and operate a circular saw
  • Construct a timber frame entrance

Ideal If:

You'll Learn:
About safe working practices, manufacture joinery products and how to construct a timber frame entrance.
You'll Love:
Our excellent carpentry and joinery workshops and enthusiastic lecturers on the course.
You'll Progress:
Onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Wood Occupations if you secure an employer.
You'll Need:

5 GCSEs including at least Grade F in English and Maths. However to help you succeed on the course it is preferable if you have a minimum of Grade D in Maths and English.

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy and ICT alongside the programme if you have not already achieved at least grade C in Maths English and ICT.

Applicants will also be required to attend for interview and undertake a skills test before entry to the course can be guaranteed.
