Course Overview

This 1 year course is the equivalent to 2 GCSE's. The course will require a commitment of 15 hours per week. The course purpose is to inspire and enthuse learners to consider a career in the Travel and Tourism sector. It is the aim of the qualification to give learners the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in, the travel and tourism sector. It also hopes to support progression to a more specialised level 3 vocational or academic tourism course or an apprenticeship. Fundamentally, it hopes to give learners the potential opportunity, in due course, to enter employment within a wide range of junior job roles across the travel and tourism sector, for example posts in travel agencies, visitor attractions and the tourist information centre. Modules you will study may include:

  • The UK Travel and Tourism Sector
  • UK Travel and Tourism Destinations Travel and Tourism
  • Customer Experience
  • International Travel and Tourism Destinations

You will also work towards a Personal Development qualification and will be involved in a range of activities, designed to improve your employability.  You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy or ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English or Maths or ICT.

The field trips and residential study visits that you will take part in on this course, allowing you to gain a true insight into the travel and tourism sector.

You'll Progress:
On successful completion of the Level 2, you will be able to progress onto a two year, Level 3 Diploma programme where you will have the opportunity to complete specialist units including the World Experience, Travel and Tourism Business Enterprises and Global Tourism.

You'll Need:
It is ideal if you have x2 GCSEs at Grade D or above
