Level 2 Technical Diploma in Sport
Course Overview
This course is equivalent to four GCSE’s at Grade A-C level and aims to develop skills and knowledge for further Level 3 courses. You will study 8 modules throughout the year, typically 4 modules per semester and include a combination of theory and practical elements.
Typically, you will be in class studying Sports modules for a minimum of 15 hours. One day a week is not timetabled to provide the opportunity for directed study, personal fitness or perhaps pursue part-time work in the Sports and Fitness Industry. On successful completion of this course, students are well positioned to be considered to progress to a Level 3 Sports course or to further develop themselves by gaining employment in the Sports industry.
Modules may include:
- Practical Sport
- Anatomy and Physiology for Sport
- Fitness Testing and Training
- Nutrition for Sports Performance
- Development of Personal Fitness
- Effects of Exercise on the Human Body
- Injury in Sport
- Planning and Leading Sports Activities
A further 8 hours may be allocated to Essential Skills and Employability. You will work towards a Personal Development qualification and will be involved in a range of activities designed to improve employability. You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy if you do not have a GCSE Grade C or above in English or Maths. You will also have the opportunity to complete a qualification in ICT.
