Course Overview
This course is a one-year full-time programme of study, broadly equivalent to four GCSEs (A-C). Over the course of the year you complete nine units, anyone without GCSE English or Maths grade C will have to attend essential skills classes. The course covers several units which may typically include: IT Essentials, Computer Systems, Introduction to Programming, IT Project, Graphic Design, Web Development, and Database Development. This programme of study includes additional components to enhance your employability, this includes a period of work placement (this may be completed through a simulated exercise).

  • Database Development

This course would be of interest to you if you like any of the following:

All units are assessed through assignments that are completed throughout the year. Assignments involve written assignments, group projects and class tests. Practical elements of this course also include regular team building and IT industry-related field trips/guest speakers. You will also complete a period of work placement (this may be completed through a simulated exercise).

If you are interested in a career in the IT industry e.g. Software Development, Games Development, Web Development, Hardware or indeed general IT then this is the perfect starting point

On completion of this course many of our students typically choose to go on to further education IT courses including computing, games development, web development or A Levels or you may enter the IT profession possibly as an IT technician or using your new found IT skills in the creative industry.

You must hold a minimum of a Level 1 qualification, defined as four GCSEs at grades D to G including Maths grade D and English grade D, or equivalent.
