Course Overview

Designed for team leaders, supervisors, project officers, shift managers, and forepersons, this part-time course is delivered through weekly online sessions (approximately 3.5 hours per week) over 16 weeks. Learners will engage in practical, workplace-focused assignments, each requiring around 2,000 words of academic writing. Support with academic writing and referencing is available throughout. Students will explore key principles of leadership, team management, performance improvement, and operational excellence.

This course is intended for individuals currently working in or aspiring to management roles.

Specific Entry Requirements:

  • Working (paid or unpaid) in a team leader, supervisor, project officer, shift manager, or foreperson role, or willing to research businesses to meet assignment requirements.

  • GCSE English/Essential Skills Level 2 or equivalent, or confidence with academic writing skills (assignments require formal academic writing of around 2,000 words).

Typical modules include two or three of the following:

  • 301: Principles of Management and Leadership

  • 302: Managing a Team to Achieve Results

  • 307: Developing the Knowledge, Skills & Abilities of Individuals & Teams

  • 316: Monitoring Quality to Improve Outcomes

  • 319: Managing Meetings

Successful learners may progress to CMI Level 3 and Level 5 Qualifications in Project Management, or Level 5 Qualifications in Management and Leadership, subject to meeting entry criteria.
