Course Overview
NVQ Level 3 Spa Therapy will give you the opportunity to gain a broader knowledge of Beauty Therapy and Spa Therapy treatments. This will enable you to have a better career choice. This is a very intensive programme and requires commitment and home study to enable you to successfully complete the programme in one year.
Modules may include:
Mandatory:
- Monitor clients and the operation of sauna, steam and hydrotherapy treatments
- Provide body wrapping and flotation treatments
- Provide body massage treatments
- Provide stone therapy treatments
- Promote additional services or products to customers
- Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
- Provide Indian Head Massage
- Provide Facial Electrical Treatments
Optional: (your tutor will inform you of the optional units to be completed)
- Carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
- Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities

Getting experience in the College’s Beauty Salon, De Courcey, with the latest equipment including the Amentio Flotation bed and Vichy Show facility and working with the public.
The visits to the Galgorm Spa Resort and the Professional Beauty show in Dublin and Belfast, the seaweed baths, and hydro-ease flotation.
To be able to avail of additional in-house enhancement courses to make you more employable in particular be part of SERC's collaboration programme with Hastings Group (Slieve Donard).

You'll Need:
NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy or equivalent and successful outcome at skills test and interview.
This full-time course will be timetabled over 21 hours per week ie - 15 hours of vocational classes, 2 hours per week employability training and 4 hours per week Essential skills English and Maths.
Full time students who do not have at least a grade C in Maths, English and ICT will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.
Students will be required to provide their own materials and equipment eg kit and uniform. There will be an extra cost for these which will be discussed with you by the tutor.
Completion of the VTCT COVID Infection Prevention qualification is mandatory in the first month of your course.
