This two-year full time Photography with Motion Graphics course is equivalent to 2 full A Levels (120 Credits). In Year one (Level 3 Introductory Diploma) you will complete 6 units equivalent to 1 A Level/2 AS Levels and in Year two will complete a further 6 units to obtain the full Level 3 Technical Diploma.

Course Overview

This two-year Photography with Motion Graphics course is the equivalent to two A levels.

Students who successfully complete this course can apply directly to University entry or apply for our one year Foundation Diploma in Digital Content Creation or Art & Design or onto higher level study.

The programme typically runs for a minimum of 15 hours a week.  

Year One establishes a broad creative base developed from a range of Photography and Art and Design units.  

Year Two focuses on further developing your digital skills through Photography and Motion Graphics within chosen pathways through internal assignments and live projects.

You will also exhibit your work as part of the course alongside other courses within the creative department.

You will work towards a Personal Development qualification and you will be involved in a range of activities designed to improve your employability.

You would like to progress into a career in the expanding creative industries within Photography, Motion Graphics, Digital Content Creation or continue into higher education.

You'll Learn:
How to present, display and sell your work, digital image creation, extended photographic techniques, motion graphics and how photographers use related materials, techniques, processes and software.

You'll Love:
The hands-on approach to this course and developing your photographic skills using a range of techniques and equipment within our modern and well-equipped photography studios and darkrooms. Displaying and selling your work through the various exhibition opportunities and student enterprises. The visits to galleries and exhibitions in Dublin and Belfast. Working on internal and external client commissions.

You'll Progress:

Many of our students progress to further study at a higher level. Some may apply for entry to the University of their choice, but many choose to stay with us for the Foundation Diploma in Art & design or our new Foundation Diploma in Digital Content Creation moving into Higher Education or employment from there.

Further study could lead to many career options within the photographic, art, motion graphics or graphic design industries.

You'll Need:

4 GCSEs grades A-C, preferably including Art, Photography, MIA or Media or a Level 2 equivalent qualification. 

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy or ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English or Maths or Computing.

At interview, you must bring a portfolio of work displaying an interest and ability in Photography and/or Art & Design.  Details of this will be confirmed in the email invitation at a later date.

As this is a full time Photography course you are advised to have access to your own Digital SLR or mirrorless camera. A limited number of college cameras are available for class use only.
