Thousands of leading experts and organisations have helped NEBOSH update the most widely respected health and safety qualification of its kind in the world. This means that it’s designed to reflect the needs of today’s employer giving learners everything they need to know and do to make their workplace safer.
This course is ideally suited for newly appointed Safety Officers, Safety Representatives, Risk Assessors and those from other management disciplines (Engineering, Personnel, Production and Purchasing), who have responsibilities for the health, safety and welfare of persons at work.
The candidate should be able to apply the knowledge gained from this intensive course to the various principles that apply to their particular trade. It should give them the background legislation and rationale that apply to the above principles and to how they apply in their own working environment.
The NEBOSH National General Certificate is based on UK law. It is made up of two units that must be successfully completed within five years to achieve the NEBOSH National General Certificate qualification:
Unit NG1: Management of Health and Safety
- Why we should manage workplace health and safety
- How health and safety management systems work and what they look like
- Managing risk - understanding people and processes
- Health and safety monitoring and measuring
Unit NG2: Risk Assessment
- Physical and psychological health
- Musculoskeletal health
- Chemical and biological agents
- General workplace issues
- Work equipment
- Fire
- Electricity
Assessment:
- Unit NG1 is assessed by a open book written examination (OBE)
- Unit NG2 is assessed by a practical assessment carried out in your workplace (or another suitable workplace)

- Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technical Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH
