Photography students from SERC are hosting an exhibition of their work which opens 4.30pm – 6.00pm on Tuesday 13 January in the Studio Gallery, at Belfast Exposed, 23 Donegall Street, Belfast BT1 2FF.
The Held In Light exhibition invites viewers to witness the formation of photographic voices. Every artistic practice begins with curiosity, and these acts of looking form the foundation of future vision. The camera becomes a tool for curiosity, capturing moments of introspection, and personal significance. Each printed photograph is time preserved, elevated from the ordinary, a transient moment held in light to remain present.
Martina McCorry, Lecturer in Art & Design (Photography) said, “Our second year Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Photography students have been involved in organising the exhibition as part of their course assignments and units which focus on exhibiting, display, promotion and selling, of artwork. They have also secured sponsorship in kind from James Nicholson Wine Merchants for the opening evening."
She added, “Held in Light is an amazing body of work which will feature photography from both first and second year students. Besides giving the students an opportunity to fulfil course requirements, the exhibition - hosted in Belfast Exposed, Northern Ireland’s multi award winning photography centre - celebrates how much they have developed through the course and gives them a platform to share their talents with their peers, family and friends, in a dedicated gallery setting.”
Everyone is welcome to attend the exhibition opening on Tuesday 13 January, 4.30pm - 6.00pm.
The exhibition runs until Thursday 22 January 2026. Exhibition poster designed by second year student, Callum Mayes.
