Local employers, employees and residents across Newry, Mourne and Down District Council are being given the opportunity to boost their skills through a series of FREE courses through the PEACEPLUS Programme.

Local employers, employees and residents across Newry Mourne and Down District Council are being given the opportunity to boost their skills through a series of FREE courses supported by the PEACEPLUS Programme.

PEACEPLUS is a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) and represents a funding partnership between the European Union, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Government of Ireland, and the Northern Ireland Executive.

These fully funded programmes supporting Leadership Development, Empowerment and Community action, will be delivered by South Eastern Regional College (SERC) on behalf of Newry Mourne and Down District Council.

Who is it for?

  • Individuals residing in the Newry Mourne and Down District Council area
  • Staff who are underemployed or employed and seeking career progression

All programmes will be delivered in the community in the Newry Mourne and Down District Council Area.

This exciting programme will support participants to identify, plan and deliver a volunteering project in the local community. Participants will undertake the Level 3 qualifications in Project Management and the OCN Level 2 qualification in Volunteering Skills, that will develop planning, management and stakeholder engagement skills.

This programme is open to those who have an interest in, or who may already volunteer across a range of local organisations, helping you to deliver opportunities for your local community.

Participants will:

  • Acquire new skills
  • Build confidence and develop community relationships
  • Gain a recognised qualification
  • Have the opportunity to progress into further training and/or employment

Start Date: 15th April 2026

Times: 10am-5pm

End Date: 20th May 2026

This programme will be delivered through a series of tailored workshops and mentoring to support the development of skills in Social Media and Digital Marketing, Office 365 applications and a greater understanding of the funding landscape.

Participants will:

  • Build confidence
  • Develop a broader knowledge of skills to help be more effective in specific areas
  • Have the opportunity to obtain two 2hr sessions of online guided support

This exciting programme provides a space for women and girls to develop their skills in leadership and personal confidence. Through the delivery of a Level 3 Award in Employability and Professional Development Skills, workshops and a cross-border conference to network with like-minded women, participants will be empowered to take forward their goals and aspirations.

Participants will:

  • Gain a recognised Level 3 Qualification
  • Network with women across communities and cross border
  • Increase confidence
  • Develop skills
  • Take part in dynamic development workshops and a cross-border event.
