The Skill Up programme aims to provide reskilling and upskilling opportunities to people across the north which will improve their skills, benefitting their employment opportunities and enhancing Northern Ireland’s continuously growing.

The Skill Up programme aims to provide reskilling and upskilling opportunities to people across the north which will improve their skills, benefitting their employment opportunities and enhancing Northern Ireland’s continuously growing and diversifying economy.
The Skill Up programme has a particular focus on priority economic sectors:
- Advanced Manufacturing, Materials and Engineering
- Childcare and Health & Social Care
- Fin-Tech and Financial Services
- Green Skills
- Hospitality and Tourism
- Software and Digital
- Other Transversal Skills
SKILL UP is supported by the Skills Fund, Delivering the Minister’s Economic Vision and all applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Applicants to be 18 years or older at point of enrolment.
- Applicants must have a right to work and undertake training in the UK at the point of application and for the duration of the course and must not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status. Proof of this will be required to progress application. Prove your right to work to an employer.
- Individuals will be available to register in person at provider campus as required
- Individual courses may have enhanced eligibility, details of which will be provided by The Provider
A participant should not be enrolled in more than two courses with any Provider across the financial year.

Support for Business
We understand the importance of highly skilled individuals for local business success. SERC's Business Services team is here to support industry within Northern Ireland to upskill, reskill and innovate.
We do this in three main ways:
- Accredited and training devised for businesses.
- Innovation support, through one-to-one bespoke mentoring, and larger innovation programmes to help create a USP for local businesses.
- Pre-employment industry programmes for individuals interested in new employment opportunities.
All courses are either accredited or industry recognised and are fully funded by the Department for the Economy NI.
Courses begin in January/February and September/October each year unless otherwise stated.
