“I work at British Red Cross as a Training Team Leader. I manage a team that is spread across Northern Ireland and the north of Scotland. This includes conducting observation visits, HR issues, recruitment, developing my team, performing 1-2-1’s and end of year appraisals. Every day can be different, as I am the first point of contact for any problems that occur on a daily basis. I enjoy developing my team and seeing them grow. Studying the apprenticeship course at SERC has provided me with greater knowledge and understanding of leadership and management. It has also provided me with skills that have enabled me to conduct small projects to improve current processes in my work, something I would not have done confidently before the course."

I was very nervous about going back into formal education, with being out of that environment for such a long time. However, the experience has been a positive one and I have gained several qualifications from attending the 2-year HLA course at the college which will help me to progress even higher in my career.”
