Students' Union
The Students’ Union (SU) is here to represent, support, and enhance your experience at college. Led by students, for students, we work to ensure your voice is heard and that you have opportunities to get involved, make connections, and shape your time at SERC.
From organising events and campaigns to supporting your wellbeing and representing your views to college leadership, the SU is at the heart of student life.
Whether you want to join a society, become a Class Representative, attend social events, or share your feedback, the SU is your space to get involved and make a difference.

Student Voice
Elected representatives advocate for the SERC student community, both within the college and at a national level, engaging with the NUS-USI. The SERC student governor attends and speaks at Governing Body meetings, representing the student voice. Student Governor for 2025-26 is Mark Brashier.
Student Wellbeing
The SU works to make sure the student body is supported and guided to tackle any health issues or concerns, by signposting or referring people to agencies and services which best meet their needs. The SU has also developed Recharge Rooms on campuses: dedicated spaces for relaxation, meditation, information and self-help.
Student Events
The student engagement team hosts events throughout the year, including Freshers' Fairs in September to welcome and engage the student community. The SU also hosts clubs and societies and can support you to create one to reflect a particular interest or hobby. In addition, the SU encourages and supports all students in volunteering activities, which can build your experience, enhance your CV and help you engage with the SERC community and the community in your area.
