Electrical Upskilling
This course provides students with a solid foundation in common electrical practices. Upon completion, learners will be able to effectively work with electricity, as well as design, wire, and troubleshoot an electrical control panel.

This course is ideal for individuals working in electrical engineering at various levels of experience who want to gain or enhance their skills. Starting with the basics and progressing to circuit design and wiring, students will develop practical, hands-on experience using industrial-standard equipment.
The course provides valuable skills applicable to various engineering and technical roles, making it a great option for career progression or professional development.
This course looks at:
- Electrical safety
- Basic electrical principles
- The use of test equipment
- Reading electrical schematic diagrams
- Designing and constructing relay control circuit
- Trouble shooting control panels
The Assessment:
There will be a practical exercise at the end of the course that will be monitored and graded on each aspect of the assessment. Each student will be given a specification for a relay logic control panel. They must design and construct a circuit that meets the specification. Once each student completes this task, it will be checked, then a fault will be implemented within the panel. Each student must then troubleshoot and repair the fault.
This course is open to anyone with an interest in electrical engineering.
Specific Entry Requirements:
No formal prerequisites.
Recommended Experience:
Previous engineering experience is helpful but not required.
An interest in learning electrical principles and practical applications.

Upon successful completion, learners will receive a SERC-accredited certificate. This standalone industrial upskilling course can enhance employability in electrical engineering fields and provide a strong foundation for further training or specialized electrical qualifications.
