Ideal if you are interested in plants and would like to explore the discipline of botanical drawing.

You will love creating botanical art alongside other enthusiastic learners, and surrounded by our horticulture facilities at SERC's Holywood Campus.

You will learn how to represent plants and their botanical structures in three dimensions on a two dimensional surface, methods of colour, tone and composition.

Course Overview

The course combines art and science, learners will complete compositions to represent the structure and forms of plants, with the use of a variety mediums including pencil and watercolour.

This is a one year course leading to a Level 2 Award in Art and Design and is continually assessed by the completion of a coursework/sketchbook and final composition. 

You will need basic art materials including a sketchbook, pencils, watercolours and brushes. A full list of materials will be available at the beginning of the course. 

You should be willing to commit to completion of assessment material outside of class time (approx. 1 hour per week)

You can progress on to any of our Level 2 Certificate courses including Gardening Skills, Plant Knowledge, Growing Organic Fruit and Veg or Garden Design.
