Course Overview

The aim of the GQA NVQ Level 2 Course is to raise awareness of the need to identify faults with and be able to remove defective insulation within the cavities of domestic dwellings to allow rectification and improvement of the energy performance of the housing stock.

The course focuses on the removal of defective insulation and best practices for making buildings more energy-efficient.

This course is designed for individuals interested in construction, insulation, and retrofitting techniques.

Specific Entry Requirements:

Learners must be at least 18 years of age.
An interest in construction or qualifications such as NVQ, or prior experience in construction, is recommended.

The course modules are as follows:

Understand building insulation
Understanding and identifying signs of defective insulation
Understanding the techniques for cavity insulation removal
Understand the use of cavity insulation, internal wall, insulation (IWI) and external wall & insulation (EWI).

From here learners may progress to higher level qualifications in the area of environmental conservation and green technologies or into employment.
