This course is ideal for individuals working in or interested in the renewable energy and sustainable construction sectors. It provides essential knowledge on insulation, mechanical ventilation, and emerging green technologies, equipping learners with the skills to support carbon reduction in domestic dwellings.
This Level 2 course is designed to allow the learner to gain knowledge within the domestic dwelling and how to meet the challenges of carbon reduction.
This is a one-day course with a short theory exam.
This course is designed for individuals with an interest in construction and energy efficiency.
Specific Entry Requirements:
Learners must be at least 18 years of age.
A background in construction or mechanical engineering, or an NVQ qualification, is recommended.
This course will cover subject matter relating to:
Understanding building insulation and its role in energy efficiency
Application of internal wall insulation (IWI) and external wall insulation (EWI)
Understanding Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems
Enhancing insulation for doors, windows, and framing
Exploring the use of different green technologies in dwellings
Learners who complete this qualification can progress to higher-level environmental and renewable energy courses, including:
OCN NI Level 5 Award in Retrofitting of Domestic Properties
OCN NI Level 5 Certificate and Extended Certificate in Retrofitting of Domestic Properties
