Students will:

Delivered over three structured days, this part-time qualification includes guided classroom instruction and practical workshop sessions. It covers the full process of working with small-scale solar PV systems, from installation and commissioning to inspection, servicing, and maintenance.
Assessments consist of one practical assignment and one online multiple-choice test. Both are open book and based on relevant regulations and industry standards.
This course is designed to support electrotechnical professionals looking to expand into solar PV installations, whether self-employed, part of a contracting firm, or aligned with an MCS-accredited organisation.
This course is intended for qualified electricians and MCS installers looking to develop their expertise in solar PV systems.
Specific Entry Requirements:
Level 3 Electrotechnical N/SVQ qualification or equivalent
Current Level 3 qualification in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671:2018)
Level 3 qualification in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations
OR membership of a recognised Competent Person Scheme (CPS) as a Qualified Supervisor under EAS
Recommended Experience:
Experience in electrical system installation is strongly advised
This course will cover the regulatory, practical, and technical requirements for safe and compliant solar PV installation and maintenance.
