The course is 4 days long and is split equally between classroom theory and practical activities, with 2 days of training and 2 days of assessments.

Course Overview

Delivered over four days, the course splits time equally between training and assessments. Participants cover key OFTEC modules including OFT10-101, OFT10-600, and OFT10-105E. Training includes oil burner safety, fuel feed-pipework, flue and ventilation requirements, boiler commissioning, system fault finding, and energy efficiency measures. Assessment methods include multiple-choice exams, short written responses, scenario questions, and observed practical tasks. This course is ideal for both new entrants and experienced technicians needing initial assessment or re-assessment in line with OFTEC requirements.

This course is intended for individuals looking to install and service oil-fired heating systems.

Specific Entry Requirements:

  • Initial assessment candidates must meet OFTEC entry criteria for Category 1, 2, or 3 entrants (this may include undertaking the OFT50 Certificate of Training).

  • Re-assessment candidates must have previously held the relevant OFTEC elements (if expired within 12 months, initial assessment is required).

Recommended Experience:

  • Practical experience working in the plumbing and heating industry is highly beneficial.

  • OFT10-600: Domestic and Non-Domestic Oil Storage and Supply Installation
