Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Graphics
This two-year Graphics course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to further and higher level study or employment in the photography, art and design and digital content sectors.

This programme is ideal for someone who has recently left school and obtained their GCSEs.
You will learn a range of core skills in design & illustration ranging from drawing and traditional materials and how to develop these into a digital outcome for a client, developing your personal workflow and processes.
This course offers a hands-on approach, where project-based learning and real-world problems and challenges are explored. These are client based and updated regularly.
You will be developing your art and graphic design skills using a range of techniques and equipment within our modern and well-equipped graphic design, photography and art studios. The programme offers experience and training in industry standard software with a range of hardware and devices.
You will gain experience through assignments and tasks based on client work & gain inspiration from the visits to galleries and exhibitions. Working on commissions for internal and external clients is encouraged and the staff will help you develop the needed skillset.
The opportunity for exhibiting work in student shows throughout the year is built into the programme and selling your work through those shows or various student companies will give you confidence in pricing your work.
This two-year full-time course is equivalent to 3 full A levels and within the first year, you will complete the Level 3 National Diploma (equivalent to 1.5 A levels).
You will also exhibit your work as part of the course alongside other courses within the creative department. You will work towards a Personal Development qualification and you will be involved in a range of activities designed to improve your employability.
You will need:
- a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above to included Art, English and / or Mathematics or their Level 2 equivalents OR
- a Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design with a Merit grade or higher
You must also have a portfolio of work displaying an interest and ability in Art and Design. Details of this will be confirmed in your email invitation at a later date.
You will also be asked to complete a short Summer Project.
You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C or above.
