Entrepreneur Delivers Glowing Insight for Business Students

Entrepreneurial know-how was the main subject for business management students at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) when local business woman, Lynsey Bennett, CEO and Co-Founder of Lusso Tan,  took up the invitation to share her insights.

Lynsey, from Holywood originally worked in media and advertising.  She completed a beauty course which led to opening, alongside her sister, The Secret Day Spa on Belmont Road, Belfast. Self tanning, however, was always her passion. She created her own tanning product before launching Lusso Tan in 2017 –  a skincare range designed to nourish, hydrate and enhance skin.  The business, based in Holywood, sells through local retailers and salons, but also operates a highly successful e-commerce model which soared following the launch of Lusso Tan’s innovative tan removing bath bomb.

Janice Simpson, Business Lecturer at SERC said, “Lynsey delivered an inspiring and insightful session on the realities of entrepreneurship to our Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) BSc Hons Business Management students.   She highlighted key aspects of what makes her business work, such as effective relationship management and the importance of maintaining a healthy cash flow and supporting and valuing staff.

Janice continued, “Some of our students may set up their own businesses, so to hear first-hand about the need for continuous innovation and creativity in developing new products from a local businesswoman brings the theory of business marketing to life.

Janice concluded, “Lynsey’s presentation opened a lively discussion on how embracing artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance business operations, productivity and potential future growth. Her openness, authenticity, and advice provided our students with a valuable perspective on what it truly takes to build and sustain a successful business.”
