Step up to restart your education and find pathways to employment
Step Up (Skills, Training & Employment Programme) aims to offer support for people to re-engage with skills and education in order to access employment or further study. Supported by the Skills Fund, Delivering the Minister’s Economic Vision

The Step Up Programme offers individuals a choice of pathways, designed to meet various employment and training needs.
For 2025/2026 we are running a choice of two pathways - WRAP and DARE.
Sessions are FREE to attend as all costs are met by the Department for the Economy. Step Up will provide you with an opportunity to build confidence, explore career options, build on existing skills, while also benefiting from one-to-one mentorship.
Pathway 1: Women Returners Access Programme (WRAP)
Designed for women aged 18+, who are currently unemployed or economically inactive, wishing to return to education.
Participants will:
- Receive mentorship
- Develop an individual learning plan
- Receive FREE expert 1-2-1 career guidance by SERC Careers Advisors
- Learn new skills
- Build confidence

Pathway 2: Disability Action Route to Education and Employment (DARE)
Designed for anyone aged 16+ who has a disability or is neurodivergent.
Participants will:
- Receive mentorship
- Develop an individual learning plan
- Receive FREE expert 1-2-1 career guidance by SERC Careers Advisors
- Learn new skills
- Build confidence
- Gain a qualification
