SERC's team of horticulture experts bring you weekly gardening tips and advice. This week horticulture lecturer Joanna Loane has provided us with some helpful advice on planting biennial seeds.
This is a great time of year to sow biennial seeds. Biennials live for two years, in the first year they grow foliage, pausing over the wintertime, they go on to grow their flowers the next season, which in turn set seeds, and begin the two-year cycle again. This video demonstrates sowing daucus carota (Queen Ann’s Lace), directly into a raised bed, although seeds can also be sown into pots or directly into the flow
