Annual CAST and CAPS Conference
SERC students from various disciplines will be participating in the Annual CAST and CAPS Conference on Wednesday 9 May, at Bangor Campus, E-Author Studio, Room A43.

The Conference for the Advancement of Science and Technology (CAST) showcases students who have worked on industry-based applied research projects in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
The Conference for the Advancement of Professional Studies (CAPS) showcases students who have worked on industry-based applied research projects in Sports Science, Health, Business, Performing Arts, Music and Hospitality.
The event will be filmed and streamed live and focuses on student research, innovation and creativity.
A total of eleven projects will be featured with presentations as diverse as development of baler rollers, antifungal use of oregano to stop mould growth, producing an original short film to delivering projects for the NI Fire Service, Montupet and the Irish Football Association.
Students will also share their experience of how to write and produce a film soundtrack or enhance the life of the local community.

The presentations will be judged by SERC's Director of Strategic Planning, Quality & Support, Heather McKee; Kieran McKenna, Head of Enterprise and Project-Based Learning; joined by external judge Deirdre Timoney, from Business in the Community Northern Ireland.
