Construction students visit new Bangor hotel site
SERC construction students from Bangor had the opportunity to visit the site of the new Premier Inn hotel in Bangor located at the site of the town's old leisure centre.

Eleven enthusiastic students visited the site and were shown the project in its very early stages of construction and had the opportunity to see the foundations and steelwork being fitted as well as discussing some of the challenges of the design process and obtaining planning permission
The £7m investment is expected to create 65 new jobs in the town upon completion. The Bangor Premier Inn will be the eighth Premier Inn in Northern Ireland for the chain which has more than 700 hotels across the UK, making it the biggest hotel brand in the UK.
The new hotel will incorporate 85 bedrooms and a restaurant.
Conway Group's Trevor Simpson said: "We hope to meet Premier Inn's exacting requirements in relation to tight timescales, quality of design and construction excellence for this new hotel and restaurant in Bangor."
Simon Cummings, SERC deputy head of school for construction and engineering services said, “This was a great opportunity for the students to see first-hand how a major project is being carried out. For students to get the opportunity to ask engineers directly about their career paths helps them to see the exciting career opportunities that are available in the construction industry. We are extremely grateful to the Conway Group for arranging and facilitating the event.”
