Mourne Mountain Adventure - Call for teams

The Mourne Mountain Adventure (MMA) is a one day youth challenge event that is held each spring to encourage young people to develop their skills and resilience by completing tasks and challenges in the Mourne Mountains.

This takes place under the careful supervision of the emergency services and each year almost 400 young people from across Northern Ireland take part.

This year for the first time SERC have become a partner for the delivery of this event and will be assisting staff from Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, and the other partner organisations to plan and administer MMA 2018 which will take place on Saturday 21 April 2018.

Commenting on this Heather McKee Director of Strategic Planning said that “MMA provides a wonderful opportunity for the participants to work with others to push themselves into taking on, and succeeding in completing new and different challenges.”

SERC is also keen to enter teams from across the Campuses in this year’s event.

Each team should comprise of 5 or 6 young people (up to age 19) and a member of staff who will act as the group leader and assist the team to get ready for the event and support them on the day. If you and any of your class groups would like to find out more about getting involved in MMA 2018, please email Marie McLeigh mmcleigh@serc.ac.uk .
