Health and Social Care Students Deck the Halls for Christmas Party

SERC Newtownards Campus Level 2 Health and Social Care students helped spread some holiday cheer to residents of Oakmont Lodge, part of Dunluce Healthcare Group, recently by throwing them a Christmas party. 

The party featured music, singing, crafts, festive treats made by SERC Hospitality and Catering students, and even a visit from Santa himself. Throughout the event, the Health and Social Care students had the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the residents, as well as engaging in Project-Based Learning through planning the event and ensuring the event ran smoothly.

SERC Tutor Jenni Rice comments, “We were delighted to welcome our friends from Oakmont Lodge back to SERC Newtownards Campus for our annual Christmas party. SERC and Dunluce have established an effective partnership with many students on placement across their services, so we were pleased to see our students engage so positively with the residents of Oakmont Lodge, and we’ve already received great feedback from the residents. We are looking forward to inviting them back for our Easter party next semester!”
