Organised by the SERC Careers Team, the events brought together representatives from universities, colleges and professional organisations from across Northern Ireland, Great Britain and Ireland, providing students with direct access to information and advice on higher education opportunities and future career pathways.
Students currently studying Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5 qualifications had the opportunity to meet with exhibitors, discuss course options, explore entry requirements, learn about student finance and gain insights into university life and graduate career prospects.
Exhibitors included Queen’s University Belfast, Ulster University, Stranmillis University College, St Mary's University College, The Open University, CAFRE, Liverpool John Moores University, Edinburgh Napier University, University of Stirling, Dundalk Institute of Technology, Atlantic Technological University, Glasgow Caledonian University, the Association of Respiratory Technology & Physiology (ARTP NI), and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
In addition to engaging with university representatives, students were able to learn more about SERC’s own higher education provision, including Higher National Certificates (HNCs), Higher National Diplomas (HNDs), Foundation Degrees and degree-level programmes designed to support progression into employment or further study.
Shirley Moore, Careers Manager at SERC, said, " Approximately 1,200 students across all four main campuses took time to visit our Higher Education Fairs so we were delighted with the level of attendance and engagement. The Fairs provided an invaluable opportunity for students to speak directly with a wide range of universities, higher education providers and professional organisations, helping them gain a clearer understanding of the options available to them.”
She added, “It was particularly encouraging to see students actively exploring their future pathways, asking thoughtful questions and taking time to consider the opportunities open to them. We are grateful to all of the exhibitors who attended and supported the events, and we hope the information and advice shared will help students make informed decisions about their next steps with confidence."
