SERC will be delivering a series of free workshops to help you take better control of your finances throughout February and March.

These short workshops will give you insights to consider ways to save money in a variety of real-life settings.  They are an opportunity to discuss the key aspects in each theme with a view to developing personal plans and actions that meet individual’s own needs.

Workshops will be delivered in Downpatrick, Lisburn, Ards and Bangor campuses.

Participants must be over 18 years old. Application does not guarantee a place on the programme.

Home Budgeting

By the end of this workshop, participants will have:

  • Reflected on a range of real-life issues for single parents, families and people living alone, to consider options on how they could budget based on their income and expenses.
  • Gained a better understanding on how to apply all learnings to their own circumstances.

Home Budgeting is 2 half day workshops delivered over 2 Thursday afternoons or over 2 Monday mornings.

Finance for Non-Finance Managers

By the end of this workshop, participants will have:

  • Discussed a wide range of issues to be considered for any project including costs, income generation, measuring success and forecasting the viability of an idea.
  • Gained better insights into key financial jargon.

Finance for Non-Finance Managers is one half day workshop delivered on Tuesday or Friday mornings.

Grocery Budgeting

By the end of this the workshop, participants will have:

  • Discussed eating habits for families, people living alone and single parents.
  • Reviewed and refined their own budgets and diet taking kitchen equipment, store cupboard ingredients, best buys and more into account when planning meals and shopping.
  • Received a demonstration of preparing a budget meal.
  • Learnt how to make it easier to introduce new recipes.

Grocery Budgeting is 2 half day workshops delivered over 2 Friday mornings or 2 Thursday afternoons depending on campus.

Motoring Maths

  • Considered some simple ways to look after their car and explore the running costs, including dealing with tyre pressure, carrying extra loads and fuel consumption.

Motoring Maths is one half day workshop delivered on Thursday mornings or Tuesday afternoons depending on campus.
