“The acting modules are my favourite, because I really enjoy practical work. In one instance we had to practice acting out a monologue to our class each week, and afterwards we got feedback on how to improve our performance. We also record ourselves acting and go back and review our performances so we can isolate specific things we can improve on. It’s a great way to track how you’ve progressed from the start of the year to the end of the year. Aside from acting, you learn a lot about lighting, industry trends, and dance."

“The lecturers treat you like peers and speak to you like an adult, which I really appreciate. The classes are small, so you get a lot of one-on-one time with your lecturer - they support you with anything you need help with.”

“My HND course offers a direct pathway on to a Performing Arts Degree at the University of Sunderland. I would only have to study that degree course for a year to get the full degree, as my HND can count as the first two years of the 3-year degree course, so I’m definitely interested in doing that. In the long term, there’s a lot of good opportunities for actors in Northern Ireland, so going into industry here after getting a degree is my plan.”

“If you have an interest in acting for theatre and screen, or the background and theory side of acting, then this course is for you. I’d absolutely recommend this course. SERC has made Higher Education feel comfortable and easy to do. From the facilities SERC has, to interacting with the tutors and students, I’ve loved every second of it.”
