This course will help develop your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. We offer groups at different levels and will support you with your English skills for everyday use.

We have 51 sessions available for application on this course in Bangor, Lisburn, Downpatrick, Newtownards, Fisherwick Presbyterian Church.
This course is aimed at those who want to learn to communicate in English, from basic greetings at beginner level, to sophisticated and fluent language at advanced level. Classes are taught in a friendly environment using colourful and relevant resources.
We offer both morning and evening classes to suit your work and personal commitments. Improving your English skills will help you to progress onto other courses and into employment as well as in helping you with social situations and communicating with native speakers effectively.
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses are language programmes for people living within the UK who need to develop their English language skills for work, further learning and everyday life.
Students work towards a City & Guilds ESOL Skills for Life qualification which are ideal for anyone living in the UK who need to improve their understanding and use of written or spoken English. This qualification could help you get a job, a promotion at work, prepare for future study or be able to interact confidently in an English-speaking environment.
The revised ESOL Skills for Life qualifications cover 5 levels –
Beginner, Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate and Upper-intermediate (Entry 1 to Level 2).
ESOL Application Process
- Submit online application
- Send ID/Visa/BRP/Home Office letters etc. to intadmissions@serc.ac.uk
- SERC ESOL will send you an assessment appointment. Appointments only (no appointment = no assessment)
You will need to purchase a course book and in some cases CDs or a Book and CD pack. Course books vary from course to course and you will be informed of the course book titles at the start of the course. If the course is a follow up from a previous course, you could be using the same course book as in the previous course.
